    • UPDATE - It is with a heavy heart that SPLL has to announce the cancellation of our 2021 Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade. SPLL is very proud of the parade we have sponsored for the past 40 years and feel we would be handcuffed by any regulations required to put on a quality event. The mayor’s office has denied our request for a permit due to the health concerns of COVID-19.

The SPLL board is committed to having an outstanding ball and parade in 2022 when things return to some sense of normalcy.

The board is also exploring alternative events for the second half of 2021 to keep the Spanish Town Mardi Gras Community coming together and partying. We thank everyone for their past participation.

    • UPDATE - The 2021 Spanish Town Mardi Gras Ball scheduled for January 30th has been cancelled.
    • The SPLL board decided to cancel the ball after receiving word from the local fire marshal that all events at the River Center are at this time limited to 250 attendees, masks, social distancing, no dancing, and no alcohol after 11 PM.
The possibility of having the parade (scheduled for February 13th) is still undecided. The SPLL board will meet with city officials on Friday to discuss the logistics for holding a parade under the current state and local restrictions. Further updates will be made when available. • The SPLL board is intending to hold the 2021 STMG Ball (Jan 30) and Parade (Feb 13) as scheduled.

Obviously, there are many factors out of our control that could suspend, postpone or cancel these plans.

Some questions will need to be addressed in the coming months before we can move forward:

Ball: Will local authorities allow large events to take place? If so, at what level of participation (25%, 50%, ??)?

Parade: Will local authorities issue parade permits for Mardi Gras parades? If so, at what level of participation? Will the route be changed?

The SPLL board will try to keep you updated with the latest information as answers to these questions become available through postings here on the website, Facebook page (Spanish Town Mardi Gras – SPLL), krewe emails and media outlets where available.

    • STMG Ball ticket holders who plan to decorate their tables on Saturday morning please take note that the Mardi Gras Mambo Run starts at 8:30 AM and covers much of the downtown area. See map below for alternate routes to get to the River Center as many streets leading downtown will be closed until at least noon.

Government, Florida, North Bv will all be closed for runner crossings all the way to 3rd St. downtown. This also caused some disruptions last year for people trying to get to the River Center.

You will have to travel south of Broussard, then travel west to Nicholson or Highland and north to River Center or travel north to Choctaw, then west to River Road and south to River Center.

    • 2018 Spanish Town Mardi Gras Ball:  Due to new permit requirements imposed upon SPLL by SMG, the River Center, Savor Catering and the state board of Alcohol and Tobacco, which allows our ball attendees to bring in their own liquor and food, we have to change our attendee age to 21 and over.

The board has discussed making this a 21 and over event for a couple of years, but the increase in underage drinking at the event along with the ATC permit requirement has made it mandatory.

No one under 21 will be allowed to enter, even if they have a ball ticket.
